Remember those reclaimed wood coat hooks (some called them ‘mushroom hooks’) made a few years ago? I’ve made them again in a small limited batch out of reclaimed old growth pine. In two finishes [1] natural tung oil & wax finish [2] Shou Sugi Ban (a Japanese wood burning technique), tung oil and wax finish. The best part is no level is needed to install them. Choose your own layout. 🍄‍🟫 🍄

A mobile and versatile worktable for artist, Winnie Truong @winnietron . This unit encases pre-existing white flat files atop a heavy-duty platform with swivel locking castors, deep open storage compartments, a side-mounted pegboard, a white melamine top with an overhang to pull up a stool, and grab bars to move the unit around the space with ease as needed. Connection to Printmaking and Open Studio: I graduated from OCADU in 2011, and majored in printmaking (yes, not carpentry or woodworking). I worked at OCADU for 3 years as a class assistant in the printmaking department then worked at Open Studio for a very short period of time. I guess you can say some deep family roots were pulling me to pursue woodworking full-time.

A few years later, OS hired me on to build out some fixtures for the studio, which I am very grateful for the opportunity. I have collaborated and continue to collaborate with many artists from this organization.

This maple cookie came from a felled, damaged tree from Jenn Rose Law’s family farm. Jenn @jenn_rose_law has been an Open Studio member for many years and someone I met and have worked with because of Open Studio.

This organization is such an integral part of the art community and Toronto, which we all know is becoming increasingly unaffordable. Please help them out if you can so they can continue to keep their doors open.

Prepping up frames for some of @ibiscustomdesigning ‘s scenic digital prints on satin. All recycled wood. A little extra time needed to denail, scrape old paint, and mill to spec, but saving good wood is worth it. ♻️(Dry fitted white and red oaks, cherry, cedar, gumwood frames)
